The Secret Life of Walter Mitty: Leave the Mundane, Embrace the Awesome

I recently saw the film, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”, written, directed by, and starring Ben Stiller. Going into the film, I was not expecting much, but after sitting through it and watching the film deeper and deeper, I learned something very powerful about it, as well as myself.

Throughout the film, Stiller has to go out and hunt down a picture, and has to do some serious globetrotting to find it. What I kept coming back to with this movie was that we have this life that we desperately need to start living, but something, somewhere is holding us back. The sad thing is though, the majority of the time it isnt something else or someone else, but rather it is ourselves holding us back. We need to stop putting up excuses and just live our lives. We need to live out our passions. If you want to travel, travel. If you want to write, write. Whatever we want to do, we should put our mind to it and do it. Instead of sitting on the couch and watching our lives waste away, lets get out there and live our life. Live your secret life.

Because of all of this, I will give this film a B+ mainly because I was more distracted by wanting to get out and live life than watch the film. I highly recommend this movie.
